Mercedes Powered Cars 1 & 2 in US Grand Prix

Hamilton first, Alonso second. Other than a few moments, it was not a very interesting/engaging race in my opinion. We do love a 1&2 though

His first win was last week in Canada.

Track temperature was 60C or 140F and ambient was right at 97F. Racing was very good from the Turn 10 Terrace. Many more passes than expected and several power plays. Watching the Silver Arrows just leaving the crowd was great. For so many years we watched RED cars at the front of the field [with the exception of Mika’s win].

The crowd did not seem as big this year; some stands were not so full as before.

Pictures coming after I shower and downsize them.

F-1 is in Montreal, and has been in Indianapolis for 8 years. Where you been?

Agree with McBear, not a very exciting race but a wonderful result.

Yeah, there were a few times the camera guys entered the "no show zone" with their cameras and you saw the empty stands that Bernie and Tony G. did not want us to see. From a few of the camera shots it almost looked like a non-Indianapolis IRL race due to the number of empty seats!

It did have that look, but you have to remember the place is massive. The stands outside turn one were full, and the estimated attendance was 150,000. That's more than F-1 gets in some of the other countries it races in.

Still, as McBear and I were commiserating at the souvenir tents, there was a complete lack of manufacturers' displays (other than trinkets) compared to years past. It's definitely on the downhill slide.

I left the Corner 10 seats toward the end and went to the stands where the cars exit the infield and head back onto the main track. In in the first couple of years those were pretty packed. Today there were under 200 in the entire set of stands. Two other sets of stands between turn 11/12 and the pit entrance and 13 were not even open. That was shocking.

A couple of shots from the souvenir area. First is [from the RIGHT] Gerkebi, McBear and Bill From Cincinnati.

Second Pic shows a couple of Ferrari Tofosi from what I can assume is the Classy Chassis chapter.
