Mark - I'm a former St. Louisan (native), but didn't get into track days until I got the SLK32. We have a local track (Hallett Motor Racing Circuit) that runs High Speed Touring events, or HST for short, that are an absolute blast. The SLK32 can scare a stock 'Vette C6 pretty good, which is always fun, but being walked away from by Vipers and Z06's is a bit disheartening.

I ran at Hallett in early 2006 with the Kansas City Audi club. "The Bitch" is an absolute hoot. Too bad I don't have about $4.0 Million laying around to really make Hallett a 1st class track. My company, MVP Track Time may look into running a track day at Hallett in 2008.
You should cruise up to Heartland Park with the Benz to run with us
September 17. It should be a great time and what better way to spend a Monday.
I track my car about once per month, mind you I don't take my little A Class, but instead my 993 Porsche. I do plan on taking my little A Class around the track at some stage, but I do fear that where my Porsche seems to always drive better after a Trackday, I wonder if this will be the case with my A Class... but fear is meant to be conquered
Just need to find someone to drive it to the track on a future visit, as I would stil primarily use the 993...
And by the way, if you have never experianced a Trackday it is something you should consider. I couldn't imagine not going to another... Trackday Promotions Ltd

Mark - I read your website a little, and it looks like you've adopted much of what Hallett does during HST days (I'd hope most track days are run similarly, but I suppose it's possible that they aren't).
During HST we get five 15-minute sessions on-track - how much track time does one enjoy during one of your events?

For our Trackdays, the tracks opened from 10:30am to 4pm, closed an hour for lunch at which time you can let your wife, friends, partner, etc have a drive at normal road speeds. So as the guys who organise our events say it's all about maximum track time...
