And folks say NASCAR can't be any fun. Now if we could just get them to do 50% road races.
I have been to over 250 races from IMSA to Formula1 to TransAM to GrandAM to IRL, CART, ChampCar, LeMans, DTM, at tracks from Indy to Watkins Glen to Sears Point and Laguna Seca to Monaco and Silverstone and Monza, Daytona and Talladega and have enjoyed it for over 30 years. I have raced in SCCA and IMSA since the 70's and really dig just about any kind of racing and I can honestly say that if you really want to see NASCAR at its absolute best, and have an absolute blast in the process, the most fun you will ever have at a track will be Night racing at Bristol. The TV coverage is one thing but the live race is unlike anything else you have ever seen.
If you think there is no strategy, you are not watching the race. If you think there is no skill, you have never driven rush-hour at 100mph for 5 hours. And good luck finding one of the 160,000 tickets for under $500.
Being smart is knowing the difference, in a sticky situation between a well delivered anecdote and a well delivered antidote - bear.
