Indycar champions meeting in Nascar Busch Series

Sam Hornish Jr. and Juan Pablo Montoya, both Indy500 and Indycar Champions, will be meeting on the track on Nov. 11 at the Arizona Travel 200 Busch Series race at Phoenix International Raceway.

Montoya will drive a Nextel Cup car for Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates next season and is doing some Busch races to gain some experience. The 31-year-old Colombian made his NASCAR debut in the Busch Series last weekend in Memphis, Tenn., posting an 11th-place finish.

Hornish, 27, will drive a Busch car at PIR and at the series finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Nov. 18. He is expected though to run a complete Indy Racing League schedule in 2007. He has won three IndyCar Series championships and has 18 career victories.

"What appeals to me is being able to find out whether I can do it, putting my skills up against somebody else’s," Hornish said.

Montoya Scheduled to Run Remaining 2006 NASCAR Busch Series Races

CONCORD, N.C. (October 30, 2006) - Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates (CGRFS) announced today Juan Pablo Montoya and the No. 42 Texaco/Havoline NASCAR Busch Series team is scheduled to compete in the final three races of the 2006 Busch Series season, including Texas Motor Speedway, Phoenix International Raceway and Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Montoya made his NASCAR debut this past Saturday in the Busch Series race at Memphis (Tenn.) Motorsports Park, piloting the No. 42 Texaco/Havoline Dodge to an 11th-place finish after qualifying in ninth place.

This upcoming weekend’s Busch event at Texas Motor Speedway will be the fourth stock car competition for the Colombian native since he joined the CGRFS organization in late September.

Montoya’s first stock car race was in the ARCA RE/MAX Series at Talladega Superspeedway on October 6, where he grabbed the outside pole on his way to finishing third. He then ran in the ARCA Series finale on October 15 at Iowa Speedway where he started third and finished 24th. Montoya led 12 laps before making contact with another competitor that sent him behind the wall for repairs.

The 31-year old driver also participated in his first official NASCAR sanctioned test at Homestead-Miami Speedway last week.

The Texas Motor Speedway Busch O’Reilly Challenge is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. EST this Saturday, November 4 and will broadcast live on TNT (TV) and PRN (Radio).
