Kimi may leave McLaren for Renault?

I heard Alonso may join the Mercedes/McLaren team in '07 season and Kimi is going to drive for Renault. Anybody hear anything to that extend? Maybe Kimi needs a more reliable car to get his Driver Championship.

I hate to see him go, but I can take Alonso any day as well.

RE: Kimi may leave McLaren for Renault?

Alonso has already signed with McLaren for "07" and beyond as far as Kimi the only stories I have heard is he is going to Ferrari or Toyota.

A Raikkonen move to Renault seems unlikely but not impossible. They already have a Finn. Third driver Kovalainen is waiting for a race seat, when Alonso leaves at the end of this season. Horst K

KIMI=FERRARI

I've read that M.Schumi is already a good friend with Kim.

Ferrari pace sucks. They engine is less reliable than MB. I think MB can match offer from Ferrari $$$ wise. I guess Kimi just shopping around so he will have offers for Ron to match.

But this weekend rumor is that Shumi is re-signing with Ferrari for another multi year contract. If Kimi goes over there, that only means Messa gets the boot.

RE: Kimi may leave McLaren for Renault?

A little early for the silly season to begin, but here is my take on all this. Alonzo will go to McLaren, and IF the car stinks, he will bail for Ferrari. Kimi will move on to Ferrari ONLY if Shumacher retires. Where else is he going to go? Williams? No way. Renault? Not likely.

The two of them are going to be the two to watch, Along with Rosberg.

Button MIGHT get a top three drive, (God knows why, he stinks) And Massa? This guy is NOT Ferrari material.

RE: Kimi may leave McLaren for Renault?

Kimi is a great driver but dont let him get interviewed too much. His stoic demeanor makes him about as interesting to watch as a TV test picture (when he is not driving). This year, we have some new and exiting drivers in Rosberg and Speed, and Kovalainen deserved a 06 race seat. I would like to see Premat in F - 1 and what about Bourdain. I think there is still lots of life left in Schumi. Just the unregulated fuel rules of part 3 qualifying absolutlely sucks. Cheerio, Horst K

This one escapes me. I think he is an azz. And not that talented of an azz. What did he finish in GP3, third????

In regard to Scott Speed I did not want to hurt American sensibilities. They needed an American driver. So far he has mostly shown the big mouth and bad attitude of a 'champion in his own mind'. Re Marc Gene I agree. Same with Alex Wurtz, very fast but way too tall for todays cockpits. For a longstanding F-1 fan I am embarrassed to say that watching GP2 last year was more exiting than F-1.
