Grand American Road Racing

Why doesn’t MD support the Grand-Am Cup Series or better yet the Rolex Series? Was at Barber Motersport Park this weekend and see that Porsche, BMW, Nissan, Lexus, etc. are all supported. BMW is pretty serious. [:(]

RE: Grand American Road Racing

MB does not make a car that adequatly meets the rules and is competitive. No private efforts and the factory would rather spend money in DTM and F1.

RE: Grand American Road Racing

There are 2 MB Kompressors running in the Speedvision Touring Car series. I had the pleasure of seeing them at Sebring in March, but they were the slowest. They ran a few races but still did not do well, they then applied to the SCCA to have some changes and they were approved. To quote "To make the C230's competitive we have recently been allowed to increase displacement to 2419cc, major headwork with increased valve size and dry sump. This new configuration will debut at Road Atlanta in September. We are expecting to finally be competitive."
They did ok, but not great as you may be aware. The Dealership that is campaigning them is "Autohaus Motorsports Inc. 350 West Copans Road Pompano Beach Florida 33064-3266.
I think there needs to be more people willing to drop a few dollars to get things happpening so that all will benefit. Maybe next year MB will move to to Grand AM, but i think they will want to see some success in a lower series like Speed Touring.

RE: Grand American Road Racing

i would like to see mb racing the dtm sedans in world challenge and take on the carrys. they need steep competition before they run away and hide anymore.

also i wonder does mb have a car to compete against the vettes and masers in gt1 in the american lemans series.

the only two american mb racers i can remember are:
the loren st. lawrence 450sl in trans am in the late 70's early 80's

2. the green party bfg tire bob strange driven 190 from the late 80's. that car raced in the bfg tire championship.
