Supercharger.....

Here's the thing...im buying a 1972 mercedes 280 SEL with the 4.5 litre V-8...i can either drive this car until i can get a newer faster car...or i can supercharge this ol' mercedes and waste civics around the world[:D]...please tell me if anyone knows anything about supercharging these cars....i'm thinking of going to vortech and/or eaton and seeing what they can do[8D]... im looking for nearly any type(preferrably root) but im not sure what will work with the carburator and all....also...how much boost could i run if i did get a supercharger....i know with FI its cool to run about 5-7 psi on stock fuel system but i have no experience with carburated engines...

and please dont tell me that im stupid for trying....if the worlds greatest inventors didnt try many of the things they did...we would be without many things...and also...please dont tell me how great these engines are to soup up w/o being blown...if i wanted that...i wouldnt have come in here seeking the advice of all you speed junkies like me[:D][:D][:D]

Thanks

RE: Supercharger.....

I would leave that car alone (maybe restore it if it needs anything) and just buy something crap on the side.

RE: Supercharger.....

check the W126 forum and ask "supercharged SEC"- he has some experience and is willing to share it about supercharging MB's. I think he would help you the most here if anyone can.
