C230 Damage After Crash
I was in an accident last night in my 2004 C230. I had it towed to the MB-certified body shop, but as they are very busy it will be at least a week before they can even take a look at it. I have terrible patience and am wondering if anyone can give me an idea of the severity of the damage while I am waiting for the official diagnosis. I have minimal (at best) knowledge of cars so excuse me if my terminology is way off the mark.
I actually T-boned a Honda Pilot in a parking lot. There was a large SUV in one of the parking spots that blocked our view of each other so we didn't even see each other until we hit. Since I was not injured and we were going fairly slow, I expected my car to just have a few scrapes and minor damage. The body was damaged quite a bit more than I expected but it held it's shape extremely well (or so I think).
However, when I got down to look under the car, it looked like the engine compartment was sitting on the ground. I've heard that Mercedes are made to have the engine break away on front impact so I am wondering if that's what this is. Also, I was wondering if this is pretty significant damage or pretty routine that they can easily fix. It seems pretty major to me. There was also a HUGE puddle of greenish fluid under the car, I'm assuming antifreeze. I'll put the pictures below to show what I'm talking about.
Again, I know I will have to wait for the body shop's assessment to know what actually happened. I would just like a little bit of forewarning in case this is severe damage that will cost several thousands or potentially total my car. Kelly Blue Book estimates the value at roughly $10k (pre-wreck). I much appreciate any input.
**It's taking forever to upload more than one picture so I will do them as separate posts.
