I am sure this was a special Christmas after what happened earlier in the year.

Excellent to hear all are well and the Benz did a very good job as its designed to do. Im from the UK and like the US we have a relatively slow speed limit. Ive been to Europe loads of times and of course in Germany in certain areas of the Autobahn its unrestricted. These cars are designed with that in mind, though im not for a minute saying you would survive a head on collision at 300 mph. But they are strong and your story only furthers my belief that theres always a chance when you go out something sinister could happen , but in my Benz 'its as good as it gets.'

Once again glad to hear they are all ok.

Good story, glad to hear about recovery. Rural roads can be scary. I lost a family member on a rural road (motorcycle versus car).

I hate cars that are the same color as pavement and those colors blend in when it gets dusky.

I'm glad they're okay. I hope they buy another one and that it's white.

Those pics of the damage make you recognize how fragile things really are. They are lucky they were driving a Mercedes and not a tin can like a Hyundai or something.

C300 Strength

To observe how strong a C300 structure is, view the Youtube testing of a C-Class hitting a Smart Car corner to corner at 45mph each (closing rate 90mph). I was stunned to see how much the Smart Car flew away, while the C was relatively unscathed!

That is why Daytime Running Lights are important, even many think that it is useless...

It is about being seen not only what you can see, the same goes for bicycle riders, they might be able to see where they are going at dusk to dawn, but it does not help you is a car or truck cannot see you, then you right of way are no use to you when you are in a coffin.
