2000? Safe, 2004? Safer. Seriously though, depending on what the criterea is of safety (active/passive) for you they have to meet some pretty lofty standard on their own as an MB.

2013 E220 CDi (Obsidian Black)
2014 C250 AMG (Briliant Blue)
1994 E220 (Onyx Grey)
I think 3 is enough? Should really be even numbers...

I hit a deer in my 99. The slk did not miss a beat. Just kept on going. I feel safer in the w126, but I have been pleased with the R170.

I T-boned a Toyota Camry with my 05 slk350 at about 30mph, and I didn't feel a thing. It shattered my left headlight and cracked my front bumper, but it destroyed the camry. Mercedes are TANKS.

Guys in r170 forum were t-boned, slid of highway, rolled over in snow and then logged in to tell the stories.

My best friend got rear-ended by a HONDA Prelude (woman on a cellphone) and the Honda was totaled. He was not hurt and the SLK was easily repaired. I would say they are very safe.

If a Camry T-bones SLK, the SLK will be destroyed as well. A fair compairson should be head on collision.
