it is supposed to happen.
all you need to do is sit in the back seat and pull the headrest down and towards you and you will feel a click when they lock back in place.

This is a safety feature to protect your head/neck. "But" I heard it's an expensive replacement once it has been activated. Once they poped, you can't reset by hand, and you need to replace the seats.

This is what I heard from another site (not MB). Maybe it's different with MB vehicles.

I know this might sound crazy, but have you looked in your owner's manual? The instructions to reset it are in there under practical hints.

NECK-PRO head restraints

It's called NECK-PRO head restraints
From the manual:

NECK-PRO head restraints are designed to increase protection to the driver's and front-passenger's head and neck. To this end, the head restraints on the driver's and front-passenger seats are moved forwards and upwards in the event of a rear-end collision when viewed in the direction of travel. This provides better head support.

To reset:

Hi. It's simply a matter of pushing it back into place. For some reason, occasionally my drivers headrest pops up/out. Within a minute a fault comes up on the dash indicating a fault with the Airbags !
Back to how to reset the headrest. This advice was given to me by my local mercedes dealer. Kneel on the front seat facing the rear. With both hands push downward fully and only them start to move the upper half of the headrest backwards to re engage. Easier said than down, and it takes quite a lot of effort. I normally push my chest against it too help. Remember to pulley push it down, as it needs to lock in place. It takes me five or six goes to get it in as it's quite stiff.
I found that a 5 amp fuse normally blows in the rear fuse box, and replacing it solves the Fault on the dashboard. Good luck, and if you simply can't do it, go to your Local garage MB or other.
PS if anyone knows why mine has suddenly started to do this, let me know?
