Lsk7, I understand what you are saying and was not trying to make it sound unimportant or as though what happened was your fault. But for those of you who do not have this problem yet, please pay attention and clean out the A arm. You can do so with compressed air pretty easy. An easy way to prevent rust would be to spray some automotive grade body wax or sealant in there sometimes. Hindsight is 20/20 and yes it was not the best idea to design the arm the way they did, but I doubt they forsaw a problem like this. And by this being part of maintenance, I meant that responsibility should be for the technician taking care of the vehicle. We are paid to check those type of things out when the vehicle is in the shop. We dont have issues with corrosion where I am from, but technicians in areas where it is an issue should be used to those types of things and should have caught the problem.

A hole in the floor or quarter would not cause a sudden failure that could result in a fatal accident.
