So last night i went out for a drive because i couldent sleep. was driving home and some guy with purple xenons hit me. the car spun, i hit 3 walls and destroyed the car. the airbags failed to deploy, so, that kinda sucked. i was doing 65 if you were curious. I managed to walk away for the most part, except for a broken collerbone.
Pics will come latter

Hey Tommygunn...glad you're still here us to post.Being hit @ 65mph is alot of force.Time for you to get the police report and contact MBUSA & raise the issue...submit the police report... with them (when you're up to it). I really believe those airbags should have deployed!

Actually, if you look at the photographs and read his original posting (w210 forum), the car seem to have gone backward into the railing - in which case the airbags would not have deployed since they serve no purpose then. I think it then spun around and hit the front as well, but not very hard since the one of the headlights on the contact side are still intact. Since the airbag deployment is 'intelligent', they deploy at higher speed when the occupant is wearing a seatbelt and not at all in a rear impact. Similarly, the front airbags will not deploy in a side impact.
So I would say, the airbags functioned as they were supposed to - only deploy when they would help.
