MB are extremely safe

If anyones looking to buy a safe car go with a merc. I had an 1989 mercedes 300e. I was at a dead stop and was hit by a lady in a 2007 mercedes suv a over 45 mph. My car was sandwitched in between that and a minivan. The car was completely destroyed in the crumple zones and the passenger compartment was fine; all four doors still latched correctly. Both me and my passenger were uninjured. If I was in a Japanese or American car of the same year I would probably be dead. I will never own anything other than a German car again.

Perfection is of the virtue, but hey; you got hit by a Mercedes! Glad no one got injured. How did your car and the Benz SUV fair? Restoring I the lifesaver I take it?

The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but the wise so full of doubts.

Glad to hear you and your passenger were uninjured. I just recently bought myself a new 07 C230 Sport Sedan. I decided to go with Mercedes because they are safe.

On another thread a poster says he was hit, the other car doing 65mph...and his airbags did NOT deploy! I've suggested he get the police report & contact MBUSA about the issue.
Non-deploying airbags? Well thats just great...if true that contact was @ 65 mph,, it's another MB let-down that almost cost someone their life...

With all due respect - depends on what year the car was - us '126 owners pretty much all have expired air-bags now and replacing them is often worth more than the value of the car.

His car was a '96 model. With all due respect to the owner airbags have to be serviced just like every other part of the car, and it should go as a reminder for other owners to check there's too.

Mercedes-Benz are amazingly safe cars. The airbags on your freinds car, probably as mentioned were not serviced. But even if they were kept up, that does not mean Mercedes are unsafe cars. It means there like everything else in this world, they make mistakes.

They're not going to go off unless it is a frontal collision.
