I think this is the proper way to merge (on freeway on ramp). You have to speed up (race) to be in sync with the speed of traffic flow to be able to fit in a gap between ongoing traffic. You are forced to squeeze in at the end or else you'll end up on the shoulder. And here in So. Cal. I've seen CHP ticketing people who merge before the end of solid line of a merging lane.

I wonder why do you hate BMW drivers? There are many arrogant, obnoxious, and bad drivers out there driving all kinds of cars (even MB.)

Ahh I think you guys are misleading the fact that we are talking about drivers not the car that the driver is driving here. I've seen so many bad benz driver around. so let's not judge the brand!

Yeah, we women SUCK at driving! I know that every time I'm on the road, all I'm thinking about is how cute I look, wondering if there're any hot guys in the next lane over, and daydreaming about how I can spend my hubby's money.

What makes me angry is all the men I see shaving with electric razors while driving to work in the morning or picking their nose and staring at their finger not paying attention to their driving! Most people out here who drive crap ass cars with some cheap chrome rims and a bigger muffler to make the car sound like it is fast but it isn't, are the worst drivers! Young teenage boys are also just horrible and recently their has been several fatal crashes involving male teenagers. People with nicer high end cars tend to follow the rules or are concerned about getting in an accident with their nice cars. BMW, MB, Audi, Lexus etc all seem to be considerate from what I see and there are a lot of those drivers in my neck of the woods. It is not strange to see 6 MB's with 4 Beemers all together at a stop light. You see more German high end cars here then Japanese though you see G35 and recently a lot of LS600 Lexuses around.

I will say I have owned a few bimmers over the past few years (02 330ci & 89 325is) and one thing I noticed about bimmer owners is they all use turn signals even during a simple lane change on the highway... i hate it how it seems that 90% of drivers in america dont even know that the turn signal stalk exists...

but on another note... im glad i now own a benz... customer service is MUCH better! and the feeling when driving it is undescribable...

Cant you see its not the cars, its the driver's state of mind. I am a professional driver and I know that if everybody just left earlier, nobody has to hurry on the freeway and also, most drivers do not know that on the freeway you have to give way to people merging into traffic, when they are coming from the onramp. I see people all the time misconceived that because they are already on the freeway, that they dont have to yield to motorists that are merging into the freeway. Oh well, thats the difference between a formally trained driver and one that is not. Just because DMV gave you a license does not mean youre a real driver.

Another thing, just to make my sermon longer, a green light does not mean go. Technically, it means go when its clear. DMV should change the term " driver" to " operator". I mean cmon, the freeway is not really a racetrack.
