Another reason I drive a Mercedes-Benz

In Estill County Kentucky last night a 20 year old driving a Honda Civic lost control of his car and hit a Mercedes-Benz ML head on. The driver of the Honda tragically was killed. The airbags of the ML deployed and the driver and passenger received only minor injuries. I realize that an ML and a Civic is an unfair match, but I still think that this says a lot for the ML's safety.

You know you're German if:
You went to school in a Gymnasium
You check your shoes for candy on December 6
You have real candles on your Christmas tree
You know a Frankfurter is a person not a hotdog
Schnitzel with noodles is your favorite meal, not a song in a cheesy musical!
You drive the Autobahn in a Mercedes-Benz at the speed of sound!

With all the build quality and reliability issues plaguing Mercedes the last 10 years, their commitment to building uber-safe cars has never wavered.

That fact alone makes a very compelling case to purchase and drive them

Kind of, what you forget is that the crumple zone of the civic is at a height that is significantly lower than that of the ML. As a consequence, the bigger vehicle will hit the mostly 'soft' parts of the other one involved and the results won't be pretty.
That's the main reason that the 4x4 will win over the car in most cases. We need to get those big things off the road and give us all a fighting chance.

Or join the dark side. Buy a vehicle on $/lb.

civics are the worst of the " Putt-Putts" as my family likes to call that class of cars.
