Thank you very much for quick and helpful response!
I've heard a lot of people say that the S500 is the one to go for, so I guess the best would be to find a nice well maintained and serviced S500. I pay about $ 500 US a year for my 280E with liability, but the insurance also covers fire, break-ins, if it gets stolen etc. But that is in my parents name, in my name it would probably be about $ 2000!? The only good thing in Norway when it comes to cars are classics(older than 30 years). I only pay about a $100 dollars for my 68 280SL! - in my name with full insurance. When I lived in NM for a year (that's when I bought the SL in CA) I paid a lot more. I really wish that we didn't have to pay all the taxes we do - a new E350 T 4 matic base price in Norway is US $ 143868....only reason I wanna move..
- You have a beautiful country by the way[:)]
thank you. Yes. a 97, 98, or 99 S500 would definately be the one to go for. Or even a 95 or 96. Those are both very good from my experience. I really love my 96. It is wonderful. I really dont know much about the 92, 93, and 94 W140's but i have heard that those are little more problematic. The prices in Norway are very expensive. Thats amazing: $143,868 for an E350. In America, that car costs less than half that amount.

Thank you. Norway is also a very nice country. I love how the snow is everywhere, and the beautiful surroundings. Very beautiful.

RE: C class totaled, S500 replacement

thanks
we do have snow in the winter-time, but it is pretty hot in the summer where I live! Love driving my old SL. One thing I really like about the W140 is the doors, I work at the mercedes dealership in our town in the weekends, and when we have one of the W140 in the showroom, everybody comments the thickness of the doors! It's like a tank they say..

As expensive as Mercedes are, it is good to know they still build them to be safe. It seems like there have been a few corners cut here and there over the last few years with MB. GLad to know it is not in the safety department.

Day before Thanksgiving, while taking my daughter to school a inattentive Kia driver ran a red light and into out 1996 C-220. Both daughter and I walked away with nary a scratch. This was first time I've had air bags deploy, must say I was deaf for about a 1/2 hour. Cannot say enough about the safety of our Mercedes and have replaced the car with another Mercedes. We bought a 2006 S500 (W220)
Dang that was exactly the same kind of accident I had right down to the description of the other driver's car. The very next car I bought was my current Mercedes. Strange how some things just seem to happen like a loop tape. Glad to hear you are ok.

Modz ... enjoy the difference. www.benzmodz.com
