stupid indeed. probably the dude who did that was so pissed at his car cause it went into engine trouble and he has no money to have it repaired. He might've inherited the car from his dad or probably he won the car. Mercedes are good cars! if he didnt want it, he should've given it to people who do care for these wonderful machines. what a waste!
I would never smash a car like that, it's just wasteful - people have parked in front of Mercedes-Benz dealerships with their cars and a huge sign in protest of the product quality.
I can see his point, because if that car is having big problems, that is unacceptable considering the class of that car. A car like that should go 10 or 15 years without major problems. It's a SLK32 AMG if I am not mistaken - they usually raffle off SLK230's. It should still be under warrenty which leads me to believe that guy had money to blow and decided to make a big stink because he felt double-crossed and was attempting to shame Mercedes-Benz and make them sorry "they ever messed with him".
He went a little overkill, but this is not an isolated incident of publiciticy stunts or making scenes in public about what is happening with the quality and reliability of Chrysl...I mean Mercedes-Benz vehicles. See one example below. As I said, I would never smash a vehicle like that, then again, I would never be in the type of position to have to smash a car out of anger since I do my homework and buy well.
Mercedes-Benz has been VERY lucky. Their current and previous line of cars was and still is somehow being viewed as great products thanks to the grand W126 and W116 saloons and other vintage models that had no peers in quality and reliability. I hope they get their act together soon before people start seperating the old Mercedes from the new.
