My first accident

I got rear ended by a ford truck while I was stop at a red light and pushed into a SUV. Cost was about $18,000 to repair. I only sprang my wrist in the accident and got whip lash. Wife was so impressed that she got a Mercedes. Crashed was on October 1 and I got my car back in March. Took it in several times after I got it back in March to get other stuff repaired. I had to take it in this week to get more stuff repair. But is still drives great. I am about to see the light at the end of the tunnel of getting my car fix correctly.

RE: My first accident

glad you're okay..
a lot of cars offer 'their lives' to protect the people who are in it, but I think mercedes is the only one who does this job the way it should be done.

Matteus I agree with you 100%.

I'm glad that your okay too. I just got my first mercedes couple weeks ago and just got into an accident last week as well. Luckily It wasnt my fault, and both my friend and I were okay. Some Guy pulled out from a side street to get over into the other lane,he didnt see me, and he hit me in the front. There was no major damage to my car..only big long scrapes near the light. Luckily, The Guy who hit me worked at an Auto Body Shop. He said he would fix it for me and we didnt go through insurance, so thats what we did. Their shop did an awesome job, doesnt even look like it was in the accident! I dont have pictures of my car on the computer yet, but I'll post them up soon.

RE: My first accident

I learned something out of this accident. Take your car to a repair shop that your local Mercedes recommends. Also it would help if the repair shop is an prefer body shop for the driver's insurance company that hit your car. It has been 7 months since the accident and I am still taking the car in for repairs. No questions ask, stuff got repaired when I broght it the the body shop's attention. The body shop even had to get Mercedes to fix stuff that they did not have the expertise in. It would also help if your are nice. I have became a family member of the body shop. They have repair chip damage and other things on my car with no charge.

Also ask for a deprecation of value from the insurance company. The police officer informed me of the deprecation of value payment.

RE: My first accident

When you get hit by a another car, you will not be able to sell the car for the actual value of the car because of the accident. The insurance company will give you a check on the difference from what you may sell the car without an accident.

Can you paste the link for ur accident?

RE: My first accident

Hi Tiggerfink,

I have the bad luck same cases like you. I got my E500 on 6 May, 2004 . I was hit by a truck on my rear when stopped in the red light too. The E500 move forward and stopped when hit the fence at the right hand side. The power is so strong and the policeman told me that if it is not MB, you will have a big problem. My wife and I stayed in the hospital for 4 nights for neck threapy and need more neck and back threapy for 2 more weeks.

I was being told that my rear E500 need to be cut wholly , the back seat move forward and the front pumper need to be changed also. It will cost more than $40,000 to repair ( all the fees will be paid by the insurance company ).

Now I know how the important of the protection is , MB is not only a great car but it can protect life.

Good luck !!!

RE: My first accident

I was hoping that the cost will be around $25,00, so the insurance company will total it. TN law requires 70% of value to be total. Some insurance company will total at 65% in TN. My salesman told me to call him next time I have an accident, because he knows a way to get it total.

My whole rear was unbolted and unwelded at the crumple zone. I guess the best part of the accident is that I got a new rear end, new trunk lid, 1 new rear fender, new hood, and a new front end up the the engine block, and new front fenders. The back of my head was sore for 7 months. Wife was sad because the accident affected my martial duties for a while.
