RE: My first accident

Well,

I got tried of trying to get my car fix, so I put myself on the waiting list for a new SLK320. The car have been at the Mercedes dealer for 3 weeks still getting things fix from the accident, and the sad part of the story is the fact its been in and out of the body shop and mercedes since October 1, 2003.

Yeah, a car's never the same after a hit that bad. Looking at the pic's makes me glad I ponied up for a Benz. Be thankful you weren't in a lesser roadster like, say, a Miata[:0] Enjoy the new SLK when it's delivered!

RE: My first accident

Even in that condition, your SLK is worth more than say, Phat_Benz' C320.

Sorry man. Hope the insurance pays it off. The important this is you're alright.

RE: My first accident

Well, State Farm allow me to take my car to a certified MBUSA collision center in Nashville, TN last week. I knew there was something wrong with my car and guess what. The certified MBUSA body shop told my that my frame was 11mm off on the passenger side and 8mm off on the driver side. State Farm and the new body shop will make a decision on Monday to total it or fix it.

RE: My first accident

I don't believe in repairing a car after a major whack,... specially if the frame has bent. I demand alot from my ride so god help whoever manges to bend the frame on one of my cars[:0]

Still, your pic just demonstrates what all the crumple zone noise was all about at mercedes back in the 70's (or was it earlier?)[:I]

RE: My first accident

This is getting interesting. The body shop that did the bad repair work will have to pay back State Farm for any redo. The original cost was about 17K. There was a heated discussion between State Farm and the two body shops. The body shop that did the original work is questing everything from the new body shop. I had a conference call with State farm and the new body shop on Tuesday. I told state farm I just want my car fix and please stop the other body shop from delaying the work. Well the original body that did the work is not allow to call me or the new body shop anymore. I was told by State Farm that my car is worth 36K and if the repair work gets be beyond 75%, they will total it.

By the way Storm, I hope you did not take my advice for your wife's questions. Another one of my friends is grounded from hanging out with me, by their wife.

RE: My first accident

I called the new body shop ato see how my baby was doing and could not believe what I herd. The orginial body shop that my dealer recommeded did a very bad job. So far the cost of the redo is about $8,000. The other body shop that did the bad work will have to pay for it.

My whole rear end needs to be replace with new parts because the orginal body shop did not know what they were doing.

Wow, You should insist to your insurance that you want the dealer do the repair.
That's why I don't deal with Statefarm Insurance. [:(]they are using the off the wall Body shop[:(][:(]
