Serious Accident w/ 2003 E320

Hello all,

I thought i'd make a short post about my expirence involving a MB in a serious accident.

I was traveling in the right most lane of a 6 lane road, when a lincoln town car heading the oppisite direction tried to make a last moment left turn over traffic into a side street. Well there wasnt any time to react or avoid and I ended up hitting him at about 40 MPH. I hit his Passenger front wheel with my driver side front end.

We hit with enough force that I sent the town car up onto a curb and into some bushes. Regardless... I was still recovering my wits from the airbag impact as the MB rep. came on over the car speakers asking if I was ok. She was great! She conference called me into my family so I can let them know to come get me, she stayed on the line until EMS arrived.

I walked out of the accident w/ only minor bruises from the seatbelt and airbag.

The saftey features of the car do indeed work as advertised! I am proud to say I own a Mercedes-Benz.

I have posted some pictures in the following album:

That is the reason why I bought one. The looks and widgets are just a bonus.

Ooohh. Glad you're OK.

Being fair here.
The car from a glance looks like it was not damaged too badly. But when I see the zoomed up pic, the radiator support looks pretty mangled(crushing the radiator too) and possibly the left frame rail is bent inwards(can't see the right). That was a good hit, I bet the Lincoln was mangled to scrap metal.[:)]

BTW, what was the estimate for repairs?

Sppedpak,

Thank you for removing another Town Car from the roads, but please next time used another brand of battering ram.

Just kidding, i hope you are ok, and good luck with your car. I can just imagine how p*ssed off you are. Good to see the features you paid for actually work.

RE: Serious Accident w/ 2003 E320

Sorry dont have any pics of the Lincoln, but its wheel and passenger front fender were more or less gone after the impact.

the damage doesnt look too bad at first glance but then again if you saw the seams on the passenger side where there was no damage (the rear doors etc ) it seems like the entire body just shifted about an inch. There was massive frame support damage, the entire timing case had to be replaced...etc etc

The car has already been repaired and returned to me the total cost of repair was about $21,000. It took them about 2.5 months to finish the job.

I think the insurance company also took a quick glance and thought it wouldnt be that bad...the suppliments that kept coming up killed em.

as for being pissed...yea I was un happy but I was glad to be safe, and even more glad that I wasnt driving my E55 at the time.
