'95 E300 rear-ended at 50 mph

I was in a traffic jam on a Dallas highway (I35 Stemmons northbound just north of LBJ) when I slowed for a traffic jam. A red Ford F150 didn't see it and plowed into me at 50 mph. The force of the blow made me slam into the Chevy pick-up in front of me. In all, five cars in front of the F150 hit one another from the force of the blow.

My '95 E300 Diesel was totalled.[:(] It was a great car with 150,000 miles on it. I intended to drive it 400,000 miles and I bet the car would have done it.

Be that as it may, the car behaved as designed. The front and rear were demolished, but the passenger compartment remainded pristine. Outside of a mild concussion from my head snapping, I'm fine. Its the best advertisement I can think of for Benz safety.

I really shudder to think what would have happened had I been in my old Maxima...[xx(]

RE: '95 E300 rear-ended at 50 mph

I was in an accident with our '93 300SE the day I got it licensed! It was only registered for 30 minutes and I was going for my first drive when I got rear ended and pushed into the car in front of me. I was so mad! $11000CAN damage that was paid for by insurance. The funny thing is that I hardly even felt anything. It was like a little (and I mean so little it was almost unnoticeable) bump! I was the only person of about 10 people involved that did not file for a soft tissue claim with my insurance company! There was absolutely no need to! Mercedes safety at it's best [:)]

Regards,
Bryan

Sorry to hear about your accidents. Good that you're all okay. These are nice testimonials to Mercedes' safety!

But wow, 50 mph is amazing. And to be rear-ended at that speed! Wheww!
