I do like the time when one of my buddies who likes to show off alot was talking some smack to this guy who worked for Oracle. I forgot what he did. But my buddy was passing off his 1997 POS C230 Kompressor with AMG badge as an AMG. Oh what you drive ? AMG man. OH yeah..which model....I got the C32 the guy said...then my buddy was like...i forgot...what a fool.

Another time my uncle told me that one of his waiters at his restaurant had this MR2 Toyota all done up and rebadged as BMW. He drove it all over Oakland, CA telling peeps it was a BMW...till he was served a letter from BMW to cease and desist. He was forced to remove the badges or be sued in court. We laughed our asses off on that one.

I don't know if this happens in the US, but over here in the UK, i see LOADS of Chrysler 300C's(usually the base-model CRD) with BENTLEY badges fitted!!!
It always makes me laugh at them, esspecially when i'm driving my 1989 Bentley Turbo R!!!!
(which probibly cost me less than half what they paid for their 300C!!)

It's annoying cause they'll try to race people, lose and people think they beat a real Lambo or Ferrari. With your cheap $5k to $60k car? are you serious? stupid.

I think they should start suing those people for making the replica kits in the first place, cause it gives them a bad name.

In Italy, you can have your "replica" car impounded and crushed, they class it the same as fake designer clothes, it is a breach of design/copyright.

A couple of years back, when waiting in line at the local McD drive-in, my eyes happened to notice the badge on the car in front - it said AMG... Only problem with that was the car was actually an old Audi 80 sedan

In Singapore the same thing. They are so hardcore in Singapore that they issue tickets for anyone carrying fake LV purses and anything that is a knockoff. We need some of that here in the US.

Germany is pretty horrible with the fake badging of cars and the classless decaling jobs on everything, from POS's to upper-level cars. I mean really, people put too much into cars. The best is seeing the purple C-class around town with the trailer park chevy van airbrushed mural on the hood. Then there are the people that put checkered flag stickers all over their cars, then a decal that says "tuning". Those are quite luscious, too.

For the rest, most cars are devoid of badges that identify the engine. It was kind of refreshing to see such a thing. Many times, even obvious AMG (true ones), BMW M, and Audi S and RS cars don't have badges, either.

We need none of that. What separates us from Singapore is the First Amendment; among other things. Aside from making the owner look like an idiot, diplaying a fake badge is is as harmless as a bumper sticker that says, "Vote for Obama." Okay, I take it all back.

BTW, law enforcement in the U.S does target retailers of counterfeit items.

Don't be too quick to judge. Here's a G55 that has the legit. AMG modification but no suspension or pipes, but according to Europa (the importer, in 2000) it is a real G55, not a G500 w/ a $12 badge... Decide for yourself...
