I saw a red c230 kompressor coupe with the badging on the back read C65 AMG!!! I couldnt stop laughing. He had a red one with a cheap set of hub capped rims with the back painted red. It looked HILARIOUS! He actually was revving his engine at the light and then took off and let me tell you, I've never seen a car hit 20mph so fast! I flew by him in first gear in my C55 and couldnt stop laughing the whole way!
I don't like a lot of chrome/silver/trim/etc. on my car(s). Sometimes I de-badge, sometimes I don't. Personally, I don't care what other people do, if they show-off, etc. Doesn't bother me. Don't think about it at all.
I do see a many ethnicities that debadge due to their culture, beliefs about numbers, sequence, etc. I never really asked about it but the dealer told me that certain numbers, certain sequence, etc. is considered taboo or bad luck.
Don't be too quick to judge. Here's a G55 that has the legit. AMG modification but no suspension or pipes, but according to Europa (the importer, in 2000) it is a real G55, not a G500 w/ a $12 badge... Decide for yourself...
I've seen a few S320s on eBay where people will remove the S320 badge and replace it with S500 or my favorite, S600, and then they'll put the V-12 badge on the c-pillars. Why?? lol
