I changed out the original oil the other day. I am now using Red Line 5W20 and the car does seem a bit more peppy now. I will do an oil analysis after a few thousand miles to see how things look.
Isn't 5W-20 a bit thin to be using in your climate? Or for that matter, any MB or Maybach at all? A MB 229.5 or 229.51 spec oil is to be used for your particular model, and no Red Line or any 5W-20 oils are listed as a MB 229.5 or 229.51 spec oil.

Those are VERY interesting oil articles. Does any of it apply to a diesel engine? I know that several people in the VW TDI forums were hving trouble with finding the right oil to keep their cars under warranty, and also to keep the camshafts from wearing prematurely. I also want to make sure that I have the right oil in my 300D. Any suggestions?
