Thanks, my dealer actually directed me there too. Very helpful, except my particular key is back ordered! Now I'm screwed.
Take your crossbars to a locksmith. He can take all 4 covers off. You dont need the covers to keep the bars on the roof rails, they just won't be locked.

This is a great driver's car, except for the comand center and lack of gauges.
The little gremlins come and go at will.
You can just go to your Thule store and buy a set of four new locks. These will come with a "master" key that will allow you to remove the existing locks.

Now there's a good idea. I wonder why Thule didn't suggest that? I have one long shot at getting the key, but if I strike out, I'll be trying this route.
I'll keep everyone posted in case someone else makes the same stupid mistake...
On a lighter note:
I visited the local Subaru dealer to have my daughter's oil changed, freebee, and a 2010 Outback was on the lot. The cross bars are builtin to the roof rails!!! They just unfold from the roof rail! What a great idea! No more lost keys, no more trying to figure out where to store the cross bars when not in use.
But Subaru quit making the fold flat rearview mirrors. Silly them.
And I still haven't figured out how to get the idiotic airbag stickers off the visors. MB was easy, WD40. The Subaru have porous material for the visors.
