I get around 20-21 hwy and 15-16 city in my GL.
No doubt V8 is significantly quicker. Even the E350 (DOHC V6) is quicker than the E320 turbo diesel, per C&D testing.

I get 22 city and 26 highway with my 320 CDI.

I went with the diesel because of the torque and highway range. Diesel also has better resale.

If I want 0-60 times as many are speaking of within this thread, I get in my 911 Carrera S Cab.

You hit the nail on the head why we selected the diesel. (and my Porsche is an M3 ).
I find it interesting how 5,500lb SUV's are measured so much by 0-60 times. The GL320 is my fourth SUV and the best one we've owned... it's also the slowest. I could care less. Seeing 27mpg out of this beast at a steady 70mph is the new measure of ture performance.
The coup is our BlueTec produces less pollutants than a Prius... per highway mile, and the tax credit ($1,800) I will claim in January is the frosting on the cake.

I have 2008 GL320 and my CPA says there is no tax credit. Is it only on the 2009 models?

The BlueTec diesel qualifies due to hybrid classification .. sadly the 2008 CDI does not.
