If yours is broken, it will be replaced under warranty.
There's no general recall.
I was told by the service tech in colorado Springs that the "check oil" mesage was from a faulty float/sender unit.
My local dealer here in Minneapolis claims to never hearing of this problem. Is there a TSB? I dislike having the message beep at me every 30-60 minutes and requesting me to check the oil level.

Me too (on the check oil level message). I kept hounding my dealer's 'Service adviser' on this. He kept coming up with "haven't heard anything yet". [there WAS a recall on the '07 CDI oil level sensors].
I changed the oil at a little over 10K mi (used Elf Solaris 5W30) and the problem has not appeared again!
When I inquired with this service adviser about the recall for the hitch weld repair he said they would fix the sensor at the same time - after they got the parts in. A couple of weeks I hope.
Have your Minneapolis dude contact georgerockey@looklarson.com for details on the parts George had to get ordered for me.
My hitch was "fixed" today, but not the oil sensor. "TSB does not apply to vehicle due to VIN".
I don't care about a VIN, I just want that beeping message to only come on when there is a REAL problem. This is starting to make me mad. Do I need to put the dealer on speed dial? Take a picture of the message?
I took my camera with me today and went for a 30 minute ride. Sure enough, the warning message came on while cruising at 72mph. I grabbed the camera and... the battery died! So I drove back to the dealer, but the message went away after about 5 minutes of appearing.
The SA added 1/2 quart of Mobile 1 0W40 and sent me on my way. I hope that doesn't fix it! I don't want the ECU to tell me when I am only 1/2 quart low, that is too small of a threshold.
You are right, 1/2 qt is 'WAY to sensitive for the sensor. My oil level (actual dipstick reading) was ALWAYS above the 'add' bump whenever I checked it - and I obviously stopped checking it after a while.
Don't get me wrong, I had been after my SA to get the sensor changed for a LONG time before the hitch replacement thing happened. It still hasn't happened. I hope to hear from him soon.
Have you got to your first oil change yet?
The scoop from the owner's manual and MBUSA is this: The threshold for the warning message coming on is one quart low. This message goes away after being displayed for 5 minutes. If the warning message comes on and will not go away, it is two quarts or more low.
A little tight for my tastes, 1 quart out of 9 probably will not damage the cooling capabilities of the diesel engine.
The gap from full to add on the dipstick is two quarts. Do not overfill!!
My biggest concern is trying to find Mobile 1 ESP Formula M 5W40. I have never seen it in Mobile stations or the local auto parts stores.
