We have also had problems with the rear entertaintment system audio system (which required a firmware update) and a recall to replace the trailer hitch.
In light of the repeated problems, I am considering purchasing an extended warranty for this vehicle. Any experiences / thoughts on MB extended warranties? |
All four of the door handles on mine were replaced, by the dealer, under warranty. As soon as they were able to get the parts, they got'er done. I DON'T think the door handle issue (a clear manufacturing defect), the hitch re-do (another mfg defect), the battery draindown (SAM software "glitch" or "bug" or 'gremlin'), even the oil level sensor problem in the diesels, is grounds, by itself, for extended warranty. The chances are very good that all these known issues will be out of the way by the time your original warranty runs out.
True, all these problems don't give you that 'warm fuzzy' feeling about the future, but, on the other hand, they may also indicate that everything that is going to break has already broken!
