Headlight halogen upgrade

Just purchased my 2008 GL450. It's fully loaded except for the xenon headlamps (go figure). I was going to order one to spec but the dealership made me an offer I couldn't refuse. I don't care for adaptive headlights that much anyways (have them on my M6 and I don't think they make much of a difference) however the standard headlights seem very dim and annoyingly yellow on my GL. Anyone know of any good halogen upgrades and whether they will void warranty? Are they easy to install or do I need to have the shop do them?

Should have ordered the truck you want. Aftermarket or OEM HID projectors for this truck are VERY expensive. They are 10x cheaper when factory installed. I guess you fell hook-line-n-sinker for a good sales pitch and got into a truck that you really didn't want. A factory ordered vehicle is always cheaper for the dealer then something sitting on the lot.

Get over the doom and gloom, the halogens are fine.

Just install some of the new +50% or +80-90% bulbs.
Make Light of Winter | Products | Auto Express

Get 'em here: Car Bulbs from Power Bulbs - upgrade xenon car bulbs, headlight bulbs, autobulbs and autolamps from Philips, Osram and Narva. Philips X-Treme Power, Osram NightBreaker, Osram Silverstar and more.

Nah, got 8k off the sticker. No matter how much the OEM bulbs are, it's cheaper to add them. Do you happen to know of any good ones or are you just shooting the shit.

Yea, but its a demo truck isn't it?

Go price out a set of OEM HID projectors at your dealer and then tell me its cheaper to add them after the fact. Stupid blue-tint Halogen bulbs aren't going to do anything for you, besides make the truck look cheap and reduce light output. You need real HID's.

Do you got HIDs on your 1990 benz?

Since you're so concerned about my GL deal... it had 120 miles on it, it was used for a one day golf tournament event. It's a spotless, nicely-loaded GL that was $8k off sticker. If you think that $8k is worth having HIDs then this conversation is over. I personally have better things to do with $8k... like mod my M6 convertible!

You are the one who asked for an HID upgrade, not me.

Try the PIAA extreme white plus bulbs. I purchased mine from this seller: eBay Motors: PIAA H7 XTREME WHITE PLUS BULB TWIN PK-NEW 17655 (item 140238409899 end time Jun-13-08 06:09:57 PDT)
The difference was huge over the stock bulbs. I was/am truly impressed with these bulbs.

Thanks! It's funny but a close friend just recommended the same bulbs to me.
