In an effort to serve the Mercedes-Benz community, fire away, I'll do my best to answer any questions you may have. I work for a Penske-owned Mercedes-Benz dealership (publicly held) in a top five automobile market, Phoenix, AZ.
Question you may have been afraid to ask your salesperson? Have a general question about a GL? Post it here.
I just bought a 08 GL450, with extra's the MSRP was $73k, the dealership reduced it to $69k, I had a trade in valued at $15k which was applied and I ended up with a no money down 33 month lease for $580 + Tax per month. Is/was that a good deal?
Secondly, I am looking for a Sun Roof deflector and Bug Shield for the front and I can not seem to find one anywhere.
Wow, that was a smokin' deal. The dealership must have been having a good week, as they took a loss on that one. What did you trade in? How many miles?
As for the bug shield, etc. Nothing out on the market yet. The aftermarket guys should have something soon. Congrats!
I traded in a 2001 Land Cruiser with 100k miles, in good condition, no accidents, clean title, with rear seat DVD's, front and rear grill covers, new tires.
You are never sure if you get a good deal or not, I suppose at the end of the day if you are happy then it was a good deal.

sorry, but come on... you dealership guys never loss money on any deals. there are so many kickbacks and other incentives the internet and edmunds don't show.
Well, vinceching, overall the goal of a business is to make money. Perhaps birdie12 caught them on a good week where they already had made sufficient money on other deals and wanted to increase thier volume, even if it meant taking a loss. We don't often turn away customers who will be back for service, parts, etc in the future. I've seen a few go this way, and birdie12 got top dollar for the trade. I would have expected to see it go for 11-12K tops.
Enough about old deals, my aim wasn't to turn this into a, "did I get a good deal" thread, just here as an ambassador from the trenches.

yes, making a profit is obvious. i understand that. my point is, there really isn't a car you guys take loss on and its all smoke and mirrors to the customer. you guys say things like, we are going to loss x on this deal, but we want to make you happy, etc, etc but the reality is... you guys still make a decent sized profit around the tune of $3000. that amount doesn't include the products you try to throw in during the signing of the contract.
take for example by car. 07 ml500 msrp'd with all options to be $65,355. i got the car for $59300 out the door with taxes and dmv fee. at the time, there was a factory to dealer incentive of $5000. the apr was also at 1.9%. but the dealers advertised the interest rate as 2.9 thus profitiing on the 1 % as well as in other areas.
so really, you guys almost never lose money on a car.
