Chrome Bumper Plate

I tried to order a chrome bumper plate for the rear bumper of my GL450. It protects the bumper paint from things hauled out of the rear door. My dealer told my that the factory bumper plate will not fit my model ( August 2006 delivery of a 2007 model). I wonder if there might be an after market version of the chrome bumper plate that would fit my GL450. Thanks for any information.

These plates come with lots of tabs on them that are supposed to fit in corresponding holes in the bumper.

Many folks cut/grind these tabs off and then afix the plate with double-sided tape. (Good stuff used by body shops, that is.)

Chrome Bumper Plate

Thanks for the heads up concerning the chrome bumper plate. I'll look into having a body shop apply the factory item for me.

Asked my dealer, and I was told the exactly same thing, but bought it anyway. I took it to an autobody shop who installed it for me. They used double-stick tape and it looks great and is solid.
