Cgarette lighter power outlets

Is there a way to control power to the power outlets located on the passenger side in the middle, with the ignition switch? My GPS stays on even when the truck is off with keys removed. I have to pull the GPS plug every time I park it.

Like your interior lights when you leave a door open, they'll go off eventually.

Yes, the interior lights go off after a while when doors are closed. Cigratte power outlet on the passenger area always have 12 volt power even when truk is parked and locked. They should work on accessories / ignition. It is dangerous to leave something plugged when parked at nights.

The Cig lighter power outlets on my '08 GL320 CDI go off by themselves after awhile - I've not measured how long but my wife insists that if she leaves her cell phone in and charging overnight, it doesn't charge.

This is true, the power outlet at the pass side footwell goes off after about 5 minutes after the vehicle is locked. Takes a bit longer if it's not locked I believe, but I too have not tested it.

Now the question that will be is whether the cargo area power outlet disengages too. I would hope not as one could then run a cooler box back there even with the vehicle turned off and secured!

It will go off eventually, too. You can count on it that the system isn't going to let you run the battery down.

your service department can use the DAS machine to adjust the passenger footwell charging port to shut off with ignition...

I checked my passenger side outlet and power does not shut off. I had the truck locked for 6 hours and light on the GPS charger was still on. Tried with phone charger and power was on all the time with keys removed and truck locked.
