Tire Pressure System inop

I just replaced my stock 18" wheels with the OEM optional MBZ 19" wheels. These were take-offs I got directly from a MBZ dealer via ebay and installed myself yesterday. However, I now have an error message that there are no wheel sensors found. I feel fairly certain that there are sensors in the new wheels as they were taken off a new GL with 40 miles on it in lieu of customer deired 22" wheels. Is there some trick to get the GL to recognize the new wheel sensors?

the person you bought them from removed the sensors and put them in their 22's.

if you look at the valve stems, you will see they will not look the same.

the ones w/ the oem wheels sensors have a thicker silverish body. the ones with out are just black and skinny normal stems.

I see now that I have to move the sensors from my old 18's to the 19's.

Do you know how the system knows the location of each tire from the other? And what do you do when you rotate the tires front to rear? As I now understand it, the message board on the dash can tell you which specific tire is low - so how do it know?

i think you are referring to the advance tire pressure system... that is only available in canada and it gives you individual psi read outs.

in the usa, we don't have that. we just get tire pressure low. no psi read outs
