hybrid GL

Does anyone know if they are still planning to bring out a hybrid GL in 2009? We would like to by a GL but do not like the mileage of the 450. And, we live in a state that does not allow the diesel.

Thanks

Just what you need in your GL: $10K worth of batteries.

But since it's an MB product the same batteries would cost $20K.

yes, a used diesel is allowed in the state. But, given that diesels cannot be sold new I worry that too many gas stations will not have diesel fuel here.

Yes, the battery will be expensive.... :-(

Diesel should be available in your state since there are a lot of commercial vehicles running on diesel, so finding the fuel won't be a problem.
Where are you located?

If you are looking for an eco friendly car, Mercedes Benz is not the car for you. Maybe the Lexus RX hybrid is better?

Disposal of batteries is "eco friendly?"

Eh, my mom has an RX400h, and i think its ok. Your paying a huge premium over the regular RX, and it dosent get the gas mileage of the E320 CDI, even if the diesel is dirter.

If you truly want to be eco-friendly, how about going for a walk?

I really would like to see the diesel-hybrid merc has been rumored to be creating. (along with the GL420 in the us, that would be quite amazing)

We live in Boston. I have been checking around at the gas stations in town - few seem to have diesel. Otherwise I would pick the diesel in a heartbeat. (particularly given some of the issues with the hybrid pointed out by others.)

We want a luxury SUV with three rows of seats (hence the Lexus does not work) and the best possible mileage (given the three rows of seats). When I read about the hybrid GL rumored in the 2009 model year I thought it was the best option. But having not seen much about it lately, my suspicion is that they scrapping the hybrid - and betting on diesel.
