Question Playing recorded DVD-R media.

I burnt a movie to a DVD-R in my new GL (picked up yesterday) and tried to play it in the RSE DVD player. In just says invalid disk.

The same DVD plays fine in my home DVD player. Any tricks I'm missing. Do I need speical media?

thanks,

/jb

I had the same problem with my kids' back-up DVDs, which were all burned on DVD-R discs.

I just re-burned a few on DVD+R discs and they work perfectly in the GL450.

Hope this helps!

looks like GL can't read -R discs...
good news is that it can read burned discs...

Just picked up my new GL yesterday and have been trying to get my backed up DVDs to play on the rear entertainment system and have not had any luck. I started with -R and then tried 2 different brands of +R after reading this post. Has anyone had any luck doing this and if so let me which brand of DVD you used along with the burning software (aka...nero, etc..)??

thanks,
jeff

Mine plays +R and I use generic Staples brand discs. RSE won't play region free so burn for region1 or all regions.

well I spent more time on this and solved the problem....I used a different computer to burn the disks with a more recent DVD burner and with this computer works fine....yes, generic DVDs work fine for me as well.

I guess not all burners are created equal!

thanks,
jeff

I too have the RSES on my R320 and have not been able to play any back-up DVD+R discs. With lots of help from oknish, I tried just about everything and no sucess to date.

Softwares: I used DVD Shrink / Nero. I also used Decrypter.
Media: I used DVD+R (Staples, TDK, Sony)
Burner: So far I only burned discs on my laptop. Guess I need to find/try different burner(s).

Jeff - What software(s) are you using? What burner worked for you, what not?

oknish - I am still solving this !!! I may need to PM you for further help, thanks for the help so far.

I have been using DVD Shrink/Nero as well as DVD Fab Decryptor (burning straight to DVD). I have been out travelling this week, however, my son tells me that some DVDs work and some dont so I need to debug this over the weekend. my hunch is one of the methods above doesnt work. in the meantime if you can try another burner...I would start there. I will let you know more this weekend when I get back.
