1981 G .. Clutch chatter in 1st gear!

I just came into posession of an 81 230 G 4 speed.

I have driven car about 1000 miles. While test driving, it shifted and engaged flawlessly. I di note after several hours of highway driving, that when i would get off for gas, etc. The truck developed a horrrible chatter when trying to engage 1st.
reverse and starting in 2nd, no problem.
The chatter is worse sometimes than others. If i let the clutch our real slooow, i don't get as much, or if i throttle up before letting it out, the catter lightens up, but something is definitely wrong.
Possible causes?
mis alignment? Oil getting on the face plate?
Any recommendations on what to do first?
Can these be adjusted? I did not see anything in the workshop manual.
I hate to take to a shop so soon[B)]
pleae someone, tell me this is a simple fix!
thanks

SluggoG,

You are in the wrong section to post your questions.

Goto the G-class Forum right above GL-class and post your question.

Good Luck,
