2007 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class confirmed
Daimler Chrysler has started circulating an official picture of a 2007 Mercedes-Benz GL350 which is expected to go on sale in the US next Fall.
An article on Auto Motor und Sport's German website also states that the present G-Class production has been extended indefinitely, but as we've all discussed this is still not certain. My dealer in Dubai has confirmed that they have been issued production slots for the present G-Class through 2006, so we have at least another year.
The next issue of the magazine will have in-depth coverage on this vehicle.
I feel bad for American buyers that the G-Class will no longer be available there, but I'm glad that those of us living outside the US have at least another year to save up for a G55 Kompressor or maybe a G63 if we get really lucky!

Who is the target market for this vehicle? From this angle, it looks more like a minivan than anything else. I don't think that would attract the Range Rover buyer or the Navigator/Escalade/Denali buyer.
In other spyshots that I've seen, the front 3/4 shot makes the GL looks real macho - almost comparable to a Toyota Landcruiser. But the front and rear bumpers look too close to the ground. [xx(]
With all the camo off, it's easy to see that this GL has the length of the R350 and body panels (here and there) of the ML350. IMHO, making this SUV really nothing original or new.
Although it's definetly not the vehicle for me, I'm not opposed to anyone wanting to buy it.
I try not to judge until I actually see one in person. I saw the new R-Class at my local dealership and I liked the exterior styling, they definetly did a fair job with it (I wasn't thrilled with the cockpit though.) So just like the new S-Class i'll just have to wait until I see one in person.

I've seen the new GL twice so far, saw two of them last Friday and saw two yesterday. At first I thought they were the 2006 M-Class, but they were too big and also had covers over the panels and lights. Taking a second look, I realized they were the new GL. Basicly, they look like a larger M-Class. I'll try to get pics of the front end next time I see one.
