280 C miss

I am currently working on a 1975 280C. I aquired this vehicle as a restoration project gone bad. It had set abandoned for 8 years. When I got the vehicle it had a terrible miss. Find following the steps gone through to eliminate this problem.
1) Drained old fuel and replaced plugs and wires.
2) This seemed to help the problem substantially.
3) Removed carb. cleaned and added new needle and gasket set as well as the vacuum pull off for the secondaries on the solex carb.
4) After doing this the engine had a slight miss.
5) Took car to body shop. After 3 weeks the miss had returned.
6) Removed the plugs again they were all black and the #3 plug was wet. I don't know how relevant the plug color is because it has not been driven on the high way yet.
7) Replaced the #3 plug and ohmed the plug wire.
If anyone has thoughts on this project it would be appreciated.
