I'm trying to finish up the reupholster for my 450 sl and stuck with the finishing touches. The driver and passenger back board was way to old to put back on the back of the seat and now i cant find anywhere to replace it with i don't even know the dimension to get a cut out. Would anyone happen to know where i could get a replacement for it.
When I was restoring my R129, I put seats from E-class W210 in it. Cost me $70 on junk yard for set including rear bench, that I plan for my dogs.
The only bigger difference is that SL has cut in the upper corner for seat belt, but I simply folded the excess of leather around .
If you don't know, you will never tell the difference.
This is not a W210 or R129. It is an R107. The 107 back panel has no cut out for seat belt.
The back is just a piece of fiberboard with vinyl cover. I may have one laying around that I can measure. Let you know tomorrow unless someone else responds tonight.
Tops online sells these by the pair. I think they call them the Backrest Back Panel Covers for $29 in MB-Tex vinyl or for $99 in leather. My seat video features Tops Online leather but other than that I have no dog in this hunt. I will say the Tops Online stuff is high quality and a perfect fit. IMHO at $15 a side who cares if it is vinyl, nobody will see it. https://www.topsonline.com/model/Se...0SL_And_500SL_Convertible_(Chassis_R107).html
That settles it. At that price you can't go wrong.
