I recently picked up a winter project SLK 230 for $750 and it's almost drivable. I went to replace the connector plug in the conductor plate because the previous owner said it doesn't shift out of first gear. He has tried this repair before but claims to have not taken out an o-ring and head a "snap" when bolting the new connector in. Upon further searching on the internet I have seen people running into a stripped screw, so I ordered a new transmission pan gasket, filter, and conductor plate. However, will I need to remove the old connector before I can remove the conductor plate? Is there any easy way to do this since I cannot pull it out no matter what I try? Thanks in advance.
