Grease on Subframe Bushings

I recently had a local shop replace the sub-frame bushings on my 560sl, and he used bearing grease to get them in. Only later did someone tell me that he should have used a silcone-based grease. However, when I asked him about it, he insisted that he's been using bearing grease on rubber bushings for 30 years and never had a problem with them.

Considering that mechanics must have been using petroleum-based grease on rubber bushings for years before silicon-based greases were ever invented, I'm wondering if anyone could estimate the difference in how long one vs the other would last, as I'm trying to decide whether to have the job redone.

Thanks very much.

I wouldn't lose sleep over this.

The only reason for the grease was to facilitate installation. If there is any residue, just wipe it off and enjoy your car.

Thanks for the advice. That's exactly what I'm going to do.
