AC Issue

Hi all,
Hope someone can guide me on this. My 2013 C350 has a mold odor when I first turn on the air conditioning. It goes away after about 45 seconds. There is sometimes a slight drip of water from the drain tubes and when I run the heat at full blast water pours out of the drain tubes. This leads me to believe the tubes are not clogged. What else should I check? is offline

You live in high humid climate, where turning AC off about 3 minutes before destination is highly recommended.
When was the last time you replaced cabin filters?

There is a product called Fridge-Fresh made by BG. It s used for automotive A/C systems, you but the vents of full blast and spray about 10 seconds in the cowl...cycle mode doors if you want while doing it.

It is a anti-fungal/deodorant....cost about 15 bucks a can can do like 5 cars.

Use to use it a a tech with good results.

I agree with Kajtek and letting the system just blow ambient air before shutting the AC/car down. The cabin filter replacement is also a factor.

Also GTO is correct. The BG product works very well. It also prevents the offending mold/fungus from growing again.

Spraying air freshener or just letting it run with the AC off for a few minutes won't fix the problem. Your AC condensate drain is clogged and must be cleared, it's even specified to be checked in your maintenance manual. Now your holding water and growing mold, that's not healthy. Get it cleared and cleaned, not just air freshened.
