I am in the Kansas City area. Every Benz I seem to find out here is more than I want to spend. I guess that's what I get when looking for a Mercedes though. I guess I will pass on the S550 and try to find something else. Thanks again

S550 are lovely cars, but also high in upkeep.
I know diesels and they work excelent for me.
However owners of diesel MB who don't know much DIY have hard time to find qualified service.
That also applies to more exotic MB gasers like 550.
Owning ML you should get some experience what is available service for you and then you can make your mind if you want to go for more exotic model and associated cost, or stay with more popular V6.
And be ready to travel.

Well... OP mention about S class for business, what I assume is carrying customers around.
Can't imagine good impression while loading customers in Civic.

a civic or Accord shows prudence and wise spending
an older S class that breaks down on customers shows.....
either way, its not my decision
opinions are like belly buttons- everybody has one

You are confusing personal opinions with general perception.
Go at any real estate office and notice how many realtors are using Honda for driving customers around.
I spend lot of time in Hondas sharing ski driving for years.
At some point I drove 8 YO Mercedes with >200k miles, my buddy 2 years old Accord with 30k on it.
He was pleasantly surprised how smooth my Mercedes is comparing to his Honda.
When I was on back seat of Honda, I had to raise my voice to communicate with guys on front seats.
