Hi All,
Just came from 5 hours non stop highway trip.
Bugs allover the car, so on the way home I stopped at car wash and it blow a water under the car, engine got hit first. Front rotors, they were probably hot at that moment.
Need an opinion did I damage anything? How stupid was my idea to get a car wash?
Is your Mercedes not driving correctly? I do not see why you would have any problems. It's not like you were riding your brakes all the way on the 5 hr trip when suddenly doused them. It should all be fine.
I heard about exhaust manifold cracks when you spray water on them very hot, but in this case not likely you've got water on manifolds and by the time you pay for the wash, you roll the car in and the thing start spraying, the very hot stuff is much cooler already.
I still wonder why trying to wash bugs on hood and windshield one would blow water under the car?
it will be fine.
in the future, try to avoid water directly to the engine bay (engine wash)
these cars have too many electrical things that can go bad with water.
when in doubt, let it dry out
It is an SUV. Imagine a 5000 ft hill descent and the brakes along with the trans are guiding the ML down this 5000 ft. At the bottom is a stream that is 18" deep and it has to be crossed. It is designed for those scenarios. Water will not hurt it unless it falls into a lake.
