Post Merc's Futuristic Shape-Shifting Intelligent Aerodynamic Automobile !

A while back Mercedes presented their Intelligent Aerodynamic Automobile that changes shape at specific speeds/conditions to improve drag coefficient upto 0.19 which is great for a production car (although it's a concept at the moment). I wrote in detail article on the topic which you can read here with more pictures and video: Intelligent Aerodynamic Automobile by Mercedez Benz

Thanks, let me know your thoughts on how this concept can impact production models in the future.

Aerodynamics are secondary priority in vehicle designs.
Such vehicles are very impractical and I would hate to back up such in hard to see situation.
Take a look at semi trucks and highway buses. Back in 1970's they have been build rounded for aerodynamic reasons. In later years they make them square, because that what loads more cargo and makes money.
Even semi-trailer do have movable plates available on the rear, what improve greatly the aerodynamics, only one in a 1000 is using them.
