Why Mercedes?

Hi!

It's a question about the diesels Mercedes make today. Well, I just think it's quite strange when both their competitor Audi and Bmw make 2 models with diesel engines over 300 bhp, while Mercedes barely pass the 250 bhp mark. Why?

Audi has 4.2 litre with 350 bhp, and the facelift with 385 bhp.
Bmw the 3 litre with 313 and the M-version with 381 bhp.

And they have got alot of models with 300+. Audi with A6, A7, A8
Bmw the 5 series, 7 series, X5..

I just can't understand why they won't make them. They are clearly popular for BMW and Audi.

What does people think?

I have seen Mercedes diesel hybrid in Las Vegas.
Found some info and Mercedes has quite different concept than Toyota.
Smaller electric engine is probably only moving the car between light changes.
Still the concept went by unnoticed.
I wonder if we find somebody having first hand experience on those?
