reliability of used c class mecedes

Hi I'm looking to buy a used c class about a mid 2000s. What are the things that I should be looking for? What is the best engine? which model is the most reliable?? thanks for the help.

Purchase the newest, best maintained model you can afford. Also, spend the money to have a PPI performed. Cheap insurance.
