2009 was with last year of W211 in most markets, but could have been the first year of the W212 E class in the UK. Both nice cars.
A 2009 S class is the W221 generation and is considered by many to be a more reliable car than the previous W220. The S class is
going to use more fuel. It is also has heaps of gadgets and a lot more interior room. If the back seat is going to used a lot the S class
is going to be much more passenger friendly.
I was shopping around for S class when W124 was on the market, but starting with W210 the E class give me good legroom.
I had leg cramps in Hummer for the record.
Fuel consumption is a tricky subject. Weight plays small role in mpg at highway speeds. The frontal area or air drag does.
But when it comes to city driving, when you have to accelerate and slows down the weight, that is when you will see the difference.
Than S has more gadgets that can break and needs maintenance.
I bet you know the life truth? You pull for oil change in Toyota it is $59. You pull in E class it is $110.
You pull in S class it is $160.
I am glad the dealers here do not play with the pricing like that. They have a flat rate for oil changes.
So an S class with the same engine as an E class would be the same price for an oil change.
The E Class has panels under it. Both the dealers here use a top side oil extractor so the panels are not a problem.
When have had to take the panels off there must be 12-14 7mm bolts with 3/4" round metal washers built into the bolt collar just to get
to the oil pan.
