Missing VIN??

I got a good deal on a 91 500SL at a Mecum Auction in Kansas City in April 2015. I haven't registered it in Kansas yet, because I had some work I wanted to do on it before driving it. I pulled the Console out the other day, and there was a "April 1992" sticker on the inside. I thought it was strange to have that sticker on a 1991 car. So I thought I would check the VIN. To my surprise, the little area at the base of the windshield on the driver's side where the VIN should be is white (Black dash). I slid a paint stick down between the windshield and dash, and you can see the paint stick against the white. Before I can register the car in Kansas, I have to have the Highway Patrol verify the Vehicle's VIN against the Title. Is there some secret way to read the VIN? If there is a problem, I will be contacting Mecum.

There should be a VIN on the door sticker.

Smile Sure enough

THANKS. You are right, it is there.
I just hope the people at the Kansas Highway Patrol don't balk at the fact that the VIN area in the windshield area is blank. Three years ago, we bought a new RV in Arizona, and the KS Highway Patrol (who must check all cars coming in from outside Kansas) REFUSED To accept the paperwork from the Dealership in Prescott. I called the dealer and they were shocked. The said they had NEVER had another state refuse their paperwork. They called the Highway Patrol to see if they could help and were quite rudely told to take a hike, back off and mind their own business. I jumped through hoops for almost two months to get that RV tagged.
